| LESSON 1: THE TREE OF LIFE - Path 11 | |||
THE PATH BETWEEN THE WHITE AND GREY SPHERES Path 11 between Awareness (white sphere) and Intentions (gray sphere) is the Path of Attention and Inattention. Path 1, the Path of Awareness is required before any other path can be followed. If we are not aware of the paths, we cannot consciously follow them. Path 2, the Path of Intentions, follows because unless we consciously decide to do something, we cannot do it. Path 11 is the necessary path for us to consciously, subconsciously or unconsciously decide to do something about our awareness.
THE PATH OF ATTENTION AND INATTENTION To understand this path one must ask the question: "To understand my awareness, what must I do? Having become aware of something, what is the first thing I must do to manifest my awareness?" Think about it. When we become aware of something, that something is information. It is a thought or an idea, a word or an attitude. To manifest that something in ourselves or our lives, we must first become aware of what we can do and then we must pay attention to this information. Focusing our attention on that information, thought, idea, word or attitude is a conscious, subconscious or unconscious decision. Our mind has three aspects and this means we operate on three mental levels all the time. These are our:
THE FUNCTION OF THE PATH OF ATTENTION It appears that often the first thing a child pays attention to is his or her own hand. Children seem to become fascinated with their own hands before anything else captures their attention. Children become aware of their own hand and they pay attention to that hand. One Hebrew letter attributed to this path of attention is the letter Heh which means hand. That connection is interesting. We become aware. Then we observe and pay attention to our awareness, to this information. We observe and we focus our attention on some things. Observing and paying attention to our awareness, or just paying attention, is Path 11. We expand our awareness by paying attention. We may have stumbled upon this information, but we learn by paying attention to it. Whatever enters our awareness is simply basic information until we pay attention to it. We don't have to pay attention to everything that enters our awareness. In point of fact we do not pay very much attention to most of the information that enters our awareness. Consequently we know very little about those things. We learn more about the things that come into our awareness only by paying attention to them. During the process of creating all that is, the Divine must have become aware of many possibilities. But it is only those possibilities that captured the Divine Attention that had were ultimately realized. So it is with each of us. We can manifest only that information we focus on. If we do not pay attention to this information, we cannot manifest it in our lives. We cannot form a relationship with another person until we pay attention to our awareness of that person. If we do not pay attention to our awareness of that person we do not form a relationship with that person. So it is with everything in our lives. We first become aware and our awareness fades unless we pay attention to that awareness. Not only do we miss the boat by not becoming aware in the first place, we miss the boat when we do not pay attention. By paying attention we learn. We do not learn if we do not pay attention. THE LAW OF ATTENTION The Law of Attention says we can become or accomplish that on which we focus our attention. When we focus our attention on anxiety, fear, anger, rage, sorrow or depression be become anxious, fearful, filled with anger and rage, depression and gloom. When we focus our attention on the things we do not want to do or do not want to become, we sabotage ourselves and do or become exactly what we do not want to do or become. What we focus our attention on becoming or doing is what we have the potential to become or do. THE OPPOSITE OF ATTENTION IS INATTENTION If we are not paying attention, we will not form any intentions concerning the awareness we are ignoring. Most of us operate most of the time someplace on the continuum between attention and inattention. CORRESPONDENCES TO THE TREE OF LIFE Path 11 is assigned to the Tarot Card I, the Magician and the Hebrew Letter Aleph. The message of the Magician is to focus your attention on the things in your field of awareness but approach it in a spiritual manner. Inverted, the magician indicates this is a very important thing for you to do. In a reading the Magician is saying to really pay attention to the subject of the reading. The Hebrew letter Aleph means ox and oxen can be very stubborn. Ox are also a symbol for the obstacles in our life. Focus your attention on the obstacles until you become one with your obstacle and it is no longer an obstacle. The affirmation for Path 11 is: I completely focus my attention on __________.
